This is where SASB standards comes into action.<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>What is SASB Standards?<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards provide <strong><b>industry-based<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0disclosure about sustainability related risks, that might vary with industry, which might affect a company\u2019s cash flow and cost of capital. SASB standards is being widely accepted, and is used by over 2700 companies across 70 countries. With specific standards available for <strong><b>77 industries<\/b><\/strong>, SASB has helped businesses develop a common platform to analyze the financial impacts of sustainability. SASB Standards has grouped sustainability topics into five \u2018sustainability dimensions\u2019, being (i) Environment, (ii) Human capital, (iii) Social capital, (iv) Business model &amp; Innovation, and (v) Leadership &amp; Governance, to help companies categorize their key issues and work on them. The standards were developed by going through a diligent and transparent standard-setting process that involves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evidence-based research<\/li>\n<li>Broad and balanced input from companies, investors, and experts<\/li>\n<li>Oversight and approval by the independent SASB Standards Board<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>SASB Standard-setting Process<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The SASB Standard-setting process is an organized and transparent method used to develop and update sustainability disclosure standards for different industries. It involves three steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b><\/b><strong><b>Initiating a project<\/b><\/strong>\u2013 Identifying the need for a new or updated standard based on emerging issues, market feedback, or regulatory changes.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><strong><b>Proposing a standards update<\/b><\/strong>\u2013 Conducting research and engaging stakeholders to draft proposed changes, followed by public consultation.<\/li>\n<li><b><\/b><strong><b>Issuing a standards update<\/b><\/strong>\u2013 Finalizing and publishing the updated standard after reviewing stakeholder feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The process is carried out by technical staff who conduct research, monitor trends, and interact with companies and investors.
